Snorkelling day trips from Kuala Besut
The booking site besutjetty.com sells a day trip from Kuala Besut at RM130 per adult and RM90 per child5. It covers the return boat and snorkelling gear and stops at five snorkelling points5: Shark Point, Fish Point, Coral Garden, Turtle Point and Fisherman Village. Lunch is at Fisherman Village or the Marine Park Jetty, and the trip ends either back at Kuala Besut or at your accommodation on the islands. Boats leave between 8:00 and 9:30 AM5. If you are already staying on the islands, the same site sells a half-day5 session for RM505.
Go Perhentian runs a shared-boat island-hopping trip from Kuala Besut at RM110 per adult and RM80 per child6, with the round-trip boat and a snorkelling trip included. Day-trippers can take the 4:00pm6 boat back the same day.
For a longer day out, Perhentian Island Divers sells a trip that adds Rawa Island and either Redang or Lang Tengah for RM269 per person7.
Full-board snorkelling packages
This is the package most agents sell: nights, all meals, the return boat and at least one snorkelling trip.
Coral View Island Resort on Perhentian Besar: the booking site pulauperhentian.com.my prices it from RM5601 per person twin share in a Standard Fan room, for stays from February to October 20261. The agent myisland.my lists the same room from RM4902, and its snorkelling trip covers Turtle Point, Turtle Beach, Shark Point and Teluk KK.
Perhentian Island Resort: Anjung Holidays’ version, sold through pulauperhentian.com.my, includes the return fast boat, six meals, two nights and one snorkelling trip3. Mango Vacations’ version includes 2 snorkelling trips with gear8 and a welcome drink, and is valid 1 Feb–31 Oct 20268. Prices run from RM6903 per person twin share in a Superior Classic room in low season to RM1,120–1,1303 in a Premier Beach Front room in the June–August3 peak.
Perhentian Shari-La Island Resort on Perhentian Kecil: pulauperhentian.com.my’s package covers 2 nights, 6 meals, return boat and 1 snorkelling trip9. A Standard room costs RM6309 per person in shoulder season and RM7409 in super peak, which includes all of July and August9. The VIP Suite tops out at RM1,1109.
The Barat Resort sells its own snorkelling package: RM640 per person in a Standard Room, March to September 202610. It includes 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner and a BBQ dinner, plus two snorkelling trips10. Trip A covers Shark Point, Teluk KK, Turtle Point and Turtle Beach; Trip B goes to Rawa Island, Tokong Burung and Serenggeh Island. The boat is not in the price: the return sea transfer costs RM60 per adult and RM50 per child10. Its low-season Retreat Package costs RM800 for one person or RM1,100 for two11.
Perhentian Trans, which runs boats from Kuala Besut, advertises 3D2N packages from RM170 nett per person12.
Extra snorkelling trips can be added to the agent packages: Susu Dara and Rawa for RM703 per person, or Redang and Lang Tengah for RM180 per person, minimum 23.
Free & Easy and activity packages
Mimpi Perhentian Resort sells short packages of its own. The Exploration Package includes 2 nights, return boat, three meals a day, one snorkelling trip by boat and one windmill trek13. The Free & Easy Package keeps the nights, boat and meals but has no activities13. The Fun Dive Package adds one check-out dive and three boat dives13.
Mimpi’s shared return boat costs RM140 per adult and RM90 per child14, with the marine park and jetty fees paid separately at Kuala Besut Jetty. The resort adds a surcharge of RM180 per room per night15 on 21–28 March, 26 May–1 June and 1 July–31 August15, and its room prices exclude the RM10 per night15 tourism tax.
Dive packages and courses
Tuna Bay Island Resort’s fun dive package costs RM1,230 per person twin share16 in a Deluxe Standard Chalet, before 8% SST16, rising to RM1,45016 in a Super Deluxe Sea View Chalet. It includes four fun dives on the 3D2N version and six on the 4D3N16, plus 2 breakfasts, 2 Western set lunches, 2 afternoon teas and 2 set dinners16. Check-in runs from 1 March to 30 October 202616.
For beginners, Tuna Bay’s 5D4N17 PADI Open Water package costs RM2,410 per person twin share17, or RM2,85017 in a Super Deluxe Sea View Chalet. It includes the course, certification card, manual, full dive gear and the return boat from Kuala Besut Jetty, but breakfast is the only meal17. In July and August it only takes bookings of at least 5 nights17. The Barat’s 4D3N11 Open Water package includes 3 nights, full board, the course, dive gear and certification11, from RM2,120 in low season to RM2,260 in peak11 in a Garden Dorm room. Mimpi Perhentian’s 5D4N13 course package includes 4 nights, return boat and three meals a day13, with materials and certification.
If you would rather book your own room, dive centres sell the PADI Open Water course on its own: Seahorse Diver at MYR1,32018, Panorama Diver at RM1,40019, The Barat at RM1,45020, Antigravity Diving at RM148021 and Perhentian Island Divers at MYR1,80022 with e-learning and gear. Course-only prices usually leave out the rest: Sea Voice Divers says its rates exclude accommodation, meals, boat transfer and marine park fees23. More on centres and sites in the guide to learning to dive in Perhentian.
All-inclusive stays
Alunan Resort’s all-inclusive price starts at RM509++ per person per night24. That covers the room, yacht trips, unlimited snorkelling, water sports, dining and drinks, daily activities, coral adoption, spa vouchers and return boats. If you want to weigh an all-inclusive resort on Perhentian against simpler chalets, the accommodation guide compares them by beach and budget.
Which one fits you
- A day on the reef, no overnight stay: the besutjetty.com day trip or Go Perhentian’s island hopping. Both leave from Kuala Besut and bring you back the same day.
- First visit, no planning: a full-board snorkelling package. Perhentian Kecil is cheaper, Perhentian Besar a little more expensive25, and Besar suits families and people avoiding the backpacker party scene25. See which island suits your package.
- Your own pace: Mimpi’s Free & Easy Package, or a boat ticket plus Go Perhentian’s shared snorkelling trip from any resort at RM50 per person26, with mask, snorkel, life jacket and boat guide.
- Certified divers: Tuna Bay’s fun dive package or Mimpi’s Fun Dive Package.
- Learning to dive: an Open Water package if you want the room and meals sorted, or the course alone if you will book your own bed.
- Families: at Alunan, one child aged 0–9 sharing the parents’ bed stays free, and children aged 10 and over pay adult rates27. On The Barat’s packages, children aged 6 and over count as adults10.
- A splurge: Alunan’s all-inclusive stay, where snorkelling, drinks and boats are already paid for.
What packages leave out
Package prices rarely cover government fees. The marine park charge and the jetty fee must both be paid before entering the pier at Kuala Besut25. Tuna Bay’s rates exclude the marine park conservation fee16 and island access fees16. The Barat’s prices exclude sea transfers, tourism tax for non-Malaysians and the Marine Park Conservation Fee11. Anjung Holidays’ Perhentian Island Resort package leaves out insurance, Kota Bharu airport pickup, the marine park charge and the District Council fee3.

Weather and season
Most resorts are closed from the end of October to the end of February38, which is why package rates run roughly from February or March to October. Sea conditions can still change plans: Bubu Resort says transfers are subject to weather32, Mimpi’s team picks snorkelling spots on the day39, and Perhentian Trans offers the next best arrangement or a credit voucher28 if weather disrupts a trip.
