How we check facts

Updated October 2026

Where facts come from

We start with official and government sites and the operators’ own sites, such as boat companies, resorts and dive centres. After those come booking agents, then Wikivoyage, Wikipedia and news reports.

How each fact is kept

Each fact is stored with a link to its source and a short quote from that page. The quote is checked against the live source page before the fact is used. Every fact also carries a re-check date.

When sources disagree

If two sources give different figures, for example two different boat fares, we show the range and name both sources. If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out.

Who writes the pages

The guide pages are written by an AI model, Anthropic’s Claude. It writes only from the checked facts, not from general knowledge or guesswork. Every page then goes through automatic checks and a review by a person before it is published.

What you see on each page

Each page lists its sources, numbered next to the facts they support, so you can follow any figure back to where it came from. Each page also keeps a short history of what changed and when.

Report a mistake

If something looks wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page. It helps to name the page and, if you can, point to a source that shows the correct information.
